The markets prepare for a wild week of trading, filled with earnings and options expiration. Stocks have soared for two weeks until an ugly Non Farm Payrolls number brought Wall Street back to reality. Next week watch the Dollar as Portugal, Spain and Italy may be the next to need aid packages. In addition, earnings start with Alcoa (NYSE:AA) on Monday after the market closes. It is going to be fun. Watch small caps next week. Biotechnology stocks have started to run again and small Chinese companies are breaking out.

This morning, the June ADP payroll report will dominate the headlines in the markets. The report posted a gain of 157,000 jobs. The May report was revised down to just 36,000 jobs gained. In any case, this number beat expectations by a large margin. The S;P 500 Index e-mini futures (ES U1) surged higher once the ADP payroll report was released at 8:15 am EST. The S;P 500 Index e-mini futures are trading higher by 10.00 points to 1345.75 per contract. This report should keep the markets higher for the morning.

The markets are pausing again, waiting for the jobs report. However, there is action galore in various stocks. As the Dollar inches higher on fears from Portugal, stocks like AAPL and GOOG continue their upward climb. Financial stocks are lagging the markets again, with Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan and others negative. In addition, small cap stocks are ripping today. In particular, Chinese small caps are beginning to catch fire

Early Bird Special: European Union Scrambling To Solve Debt

This morning, the S;P 500 Index e-mini futures (ES U1) are trading lower by 7.00 points to 1330.00 per contract. Once again, the catalyst for the decline in the futures market looks to be the due to the European debt crisis. Yields are spiking higher on bonds out of Portugal, Spain and Italy. The European Union remains in turmoil despite the recent Greek bailout. Obviously, when the S;P 500 Index declines it usually indicates that the U.S. Dollar Index is trading higher. This is certainly the case this morning, the U.S. Dollar Index futures (DX U1) are trading higher by 0.43 cents to $75.42 per contract. When the U.S. Dollar Index trades higher the major stock market indexes will usually deflate and trade lower.

The markets are pausing today on light volume. A classic hangover is underway in the markets from the holiday weekend. While most of the market is pausing, key technology stocks like GOOG, BIDU, AAPL and AMZN are all surging. AMZN is hitting new all time highs. NFLX is also having a big day as it gets closer to $300.00 per share. On the other side, financial stocks are weak, lagging the market. Goldman, JPMorgan and others are all negative.

Holiday Hangover: Are The Markets Set To Rest After Rally?

Last week, the major stock indexes surged higher for five consecutive trading sessions. The S;P 500 Index climbed higher by 85.00 points to 1339.76 in a single week. The rally was nothing short of explosive in the near term. The last time the major stock indexes surged this high in such a short period of time was last July 2010. This morning, the S;P 500 Index e-mini futures (ES U1) are trading lower by 2.00 points to $1332.75 per contract. Often, after a large point rally that we saw last week, the major stock indexes could be poised for a pause day. The first trading session after a holiday will usually have light volume so we shall see how the markets react. It would be prudent to expect a flat to sideways trading session by the close.

Stock Market Videos: Big Rally May Give Way To Pull Back On

The markets look to continue their massive rally next week but there may be a problem. After the biggest one week rally since July 2009, the markets must get through the Unemployment Report and Non Farm Payrolls. Last weeks rally was about as obvious as a flashing neon rally sign. Members were alerted to this rally days before it happened. With the light volume holiday approaching and the daily chart sitting on the biggest level since 2009, it was a no brainer. While it was impressive, it is likely that it takes a break this week. While a large pull back is unlikely, a .382 Fibonacci retrace may be in order. Many stocks like Caterpillar Inc., Chevron Corporation and International Business Machines Corp. are at major resistance levels. Add the Jobs report into the mix, and a small pull back will have been seen by Friday.

The morning, the S;P 500 Index e-mini futures (ES U1) are trading higher by 1.00 point to 1316.50 per contract. The major stock indexes are expected to trade very light volume today, many institutional traders have already headed out to their vacation spots for the long holiday weekend. The markets in the United States will be closed on Monday for the Independence Day holiday on July 4, 2011. Therefore, it would be prudent to expect somewhat of a flat trading session overall.

The markets rallied for the fourth straight day. Spiking higher on a weak Dollar as the issues with Greece subside. While the rally is turning many bears into bulls, the markets hit a master level on the SPY today that should be significant resistance. While at resistance, it may be hard for the markets to reverse significantly because of light holiday volume.

This morning, the S;P 500 Index e-mini futures (ES U1) are trading higher by 3.25 points to 1307.50 per contract. Obviously, if the major stock indexes are trading higher before the opening bell that will usually mean that the U.S. Dollar Index is trading lower. The U.S. Dollar Index (DX U1) is trading lower this morning by 0.25 cents to $74.75 per contract. This week, the S;P 500 Index has staged a sharp three day rally, meanwhile, the U.S. Dollar Index has had a sharp three day decline. The U.S. Dollar Index is still dominating every move in the stock market as it continues to trade inverse to the major stock market indexes.

Stock Market Videos: Markets Up On Bank Bailout, Small Caps

The markets are surging again today. This is the third day in a row as the Dollar continues to fall. The Dollar is weaker after Greece voted to push through major new austerity measures. This means that Greece will not default next month. The Euro jumped and the Dollar weakened. Essentially, this is a bank bailout once again. With the exposure to credit default swaps, banks would take major hits if Greece defaulted. In addition, if Greece were to default, a chain reaction would ripple through Spain, Portugal and Italy. There would be another global financial crisis. To bail out Greece instead of the banks in a year was a political move. It looks much better to bailout a country and its people, rather than banks. In response to the bailout, bank stocks are surging. JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs and Bank of America are all ripping higher

This morning, the S;P 500 Index e-mini futures (ES U1) are trading higher by 5.50 points to 1300.00 per contract. The move higher in the futures market comes as investors expect the Greek austerity vote to be passed by the Greek parliament. The U.S. Dollar Index (DX U1) is also declining this morning by 0.20 cents to $75.28 per contract. We should all know by now, when the U.S. Dollar Index declines the major stock indexes inflate and trade higher. Traders and investors must continue to follow the U.S. Dollar Index closely.

The markets are moving higher again today, for the second day in a row. This is on optimism that the austerity measures will pass tomorrow morning in Greece. If they fail, the markets could tumble. Most sectors are very strong today, lead by a weak Dollar which is pushing up commodities. Oil stocks like Chevron and Exxon are carrying the Dow with help from IBM. The weakest area is the bank stocks. JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs and others are lower on a big rally day. Chinese stocks continue their massive rally. They are being headed by YOKU and DANG.

This morning the S;P 500 e-mini futures (ES U1) are trading higher by 3.75 points to 1280.00 per contract. Whenever the major stock indexes are trading higher before the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange, it usually means that the U.S. Dollar Index is declining. That is certainly the case this morning, the U.S. Dollar Index futures (DX U1) are trading lower by 0.20 cents to $75.62 per contract. Traders must remember, when the U.S. Dollar Index declines the major stock indexes will inflate and trade higher. The opposite is true when the U.S. Dollar Index rallies higher, the major stock indexes will deflate and trade lower. Essentially, every trade is a trade on the U.S. Dollar Index at this time

The markets started their upwards move, heading for the July 4th holiday weekend. Volume is low today and the markets are having a solid bounce. The bounce is mainly attributed to a falling U.S. Dollar. The market opened higher and collapsed lower. In addition, this rally is being lead by banks, Exxon, Chevron and technology. Amazon and Apple are having big days. It appears as if money flow is heading for the best of breed names

The market prepares for what could be another wild week. With the indexes hovering over a master level which connects from the lows of 2009 to 2010, a cliff dive may be near. Should the markets break that level, a continued major correction could be underway. The markets will face an austerity vote in Greece this week and a major Jobs Report. Oil took a major hit last week and may continue to remain soft. Major levels are revealed on the USO. In addition, pattern and master levels are given on the GLD and SLV. Traders will also be watching leading technology stocks like Apple and Google for market direction.

In overnight trading, the S;P 500 e-mini futures (ES U1) have been all over the map, trading as high as 1286 per contract. This morning before the opening bell, the S;P e-mini futures are trading higher by 2.75 points to 1289.75 per contract. It would be prudent to expect the markets to remain very volatile as every news report out of Europe seems to be effecting the intra-day action in the major stock indexes. Yesterday, was one of the most volatile trading sessions that we have seen since the stock market correction began on May 2, 2011. The problems in Europe are expected to last throughout the rest of the year, making this a traders paradise.

The markets opened sharply lower after the Dollar surged on continued worry over lack of Ben Bernanke mentioning QE3. In addition, the IEA and the U.S. government released oil from the strategic reserves. This sent oil tumbling 5% in early trading. When oil drops, the markets drop. This happens because Chevron and Exxon are key components of the Dow Jones Industrial Average. Both stocks have been crushed today.

This morning, the S;P 500 e-mini futures (ES U1) are plummeting lower by 16.00 points to 1263.75 per contract. The same old problems persist, Greece may not have enough votes to get another bailout. Portuguese yields are spiking higher on their 2 year bonds. We can only wonder what will happen with Ireland, Spain and Italy over the next few weeks. The domino effect in Europe is likely to continue with no end in sight.

The markets are trading on the flat line today after pricing in the Greek outcome to the vote of confidence and exactly what would be said from the Federal Reserve, perfectly. Financial stocks are having the best gains of any sector. Chinese stocks continue to rip higher on the back of short covering. MOBI, CHGS, SHZ and others are having huge days. The markets seem to be content with listening to Ben Bernanke and thinking he is here to save the markets again with a QE3 or QE2.5.
